The RCC/SSCY Family Network is hosting one more Sibshops event! These Sibshops are for siblings ages 8-12 of children with physical and/or developmental disabilities. At these events, they will meet other sibs, have fun, laugh, talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs, play some great games, learn something about the services their brothers and sisters receive, and have some more fun. Spa Day

We invite you to join us for a relaxing day at the spa – SSCY Centre-style! Spa Day is on Sunday March 3rd 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm. We will be giving manicures and pedicures, making our own facials, creating some DIY spa products to take home, and more. Where: SSCY – 1155 Notre Dame Ave. When: Sunday March 3rd, 2019 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm For Who: Participants between the ages of 10 and 21 Spa treatments will include: Homemade face masks Manicures & pedicures DIY spa treatments to take home Snack station (cookies, smoothies, and fruit) Please bring: Comfy clothes or your “spa robe” Flip flops (for once your toes are painted!) **Please be advised that we will be using scented products. Special Olympics FUNdamentals program

Special Olympics is now offering their FUNdamentals program at a Winnipeg location! FUNdamentals is a physical literacy program for ages 7-12  that transitions from basic movement skills to basic sport skills while maintaining an atmosphere of fun and meaningful interaction. This program also promotes specific sport education, proper nutrition, and social inclusion through participation in positive sport experiences. Join us for Social Night!

17+ Social Night is a joint program between LIFE and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba. It is a transitional recreation program for teens, young adults, and adults to build new connections and relationships in their community. WHEN: Feb. 2nd, Mar. 2nd, Mar. 23, 2019, 5:00-8:30pm WHERE: SSCY Centre – 1155 Notre Dame Come join us for a fun evening of friends, food, and social events! Each evening will feature a different activity. We will have a 1:3 ratio of staff to participants; staff include a therapist and trained recreational assistants. If you require 1:1 support, please let us know! February 2nd: pizza and a movie March 2nd: dinner and art class March 23rd: bowling (6:30-8:30)

Awesome Me! Living with FASD

The Manitoba FASD Family Network presents Awesome Me! Living with FASD Myles Himmelreich will share personal experiences about living with FASD and encourage young people to recognize their capabilities and strengths. Attend this inspirational presentation with a caregiver or school support person. Who should attend this event? Youth in grades 7 – 12 with a diagnosis of FASD who are aware of their diagnosis, along with a caregiver or support person. Where and When? Northern Lights Room, SSCY Centre (1155 Notre Dame Ave.), Friday, February 8th, 2019, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Registration and a light breakfast are at 9:00 a.m. Lunch is not included. SSCY Parent to Parent Café

The RCC/SSCY Family Network has developed a brand new parent support group called SSCY Parent to Parent Café, and we’d love to invite you to join! The goal of this group is to build a community of support and facilitate an opportunity for parents to get to know other parents. This fun and informal parent group will meet one Sunday afternoon a month from 2:00-4:00pm. The group will be led by parent facilitators, and will cover a different discussion topic each month based on priorities identified by the group. Recreation will be provided for your children while you’re enjoying the group. Winter and spring dates are January 13th, February 10th, March 10th, April 7th, and May 5th. Saturday Cooking Club

Do you enjoy working in the kitchen? Would you like to work with your child to learn some practical kitchen skills while having fun and making friends at the same time? Join our Saturday cooking club at St John’s Presbyterian Church – 251 Bannerman, Feb 2nd to March 16th (No class Feb 16th) Ages 8 – 12; 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. Ages 12 – 21; 1:45 – 3:00 p.m. We use the Guided Participation model to facilitate flexible thinking and decision-making while strengthening the parent-child relationship in a supportive environment. Parents who have attended the Flexible Thinking learning series at RCC will have a hands-on opportunity to put strategies into practise.
