The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation raises funds to improve the lives of Children who access services provided by the Rehabilitation Centre for Children.

The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation is a local Manitoba charity, focused on helping children living with disabilities. As the fundraising arm of the Rehabilitation Centre for Children, the Foundation raises funds through special events and donations to fund specially modified equipment and recreational and education programs for children aged 0 to 21.

Community Respite Service Inc. (CRS) provides quality respite in Manitoba for caregivers of and to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.

CRS is a respite option for families of children, youth and adults in the Winnipeg and Westman regions of Manitoba. CRS uses a family centred approach to operate an Office-Administered Respite Program and a Self-Administered Respite Program in Winnipeg and Brandon and some of the surrounding towns. In Winnipeg, CRS also operates a Respite Apartment that can be used by all families and individuals with disabilities. CRS has been in existence for 30 years and is run by a Board of Directors made up of family members and adults with disabilities.

  The Children’s Therapy Initiative (CTI) started in 2002 to improve the coordination of audiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology services for children across Manitoba.  The goal of CTI is to provide coordinated, regionally based services that allow children and youth to reach their full potential. CTI is a joint program of many provincial government departments (Education, Family Services, Health, Healthy Child Manitoba, and Healthy Living).

Central Speech & Hearing Clinic helps children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, learn how to listen, hear and speak using Auditory-Verbal Therapy and/or aural (re)habilitation services while supporting and promoting their integration into the social, educational and economic mainstream. We are committed to excellence through the provision of a range of audiological and habilitation services and advanced technological supports.

Central Speech & Hearing Clinic helps families of children with all levels of hearing loss learn to listen, hear, and talk. We are the only cochlear implant centre in the province, as well as the only centre offering Auditory-Verbal Therapy to preschool and school-age children. Our team of Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS) and Audiologists work together with families and other professionals who may be involved. We support families in understanding their child’s hearing loss and hearing devices, and assess and monitor hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone-anchored hearing aids. Auditory-Verbal Therapy is a personalized, family-centred therapy where parents/caregivers learn to be their child’s primary language model. We work closely with families to help them achieve their desired outcome of listening and spoken language and education in regular schools. We provide support at our clinic, in the family’s home, in a child’s daycare, preschool and educational environment. We also connect through a support group (VOICE) and provide advocacy resources.

CSHC also provides audiological management and aural rehabilitation services to teens & adults with cochlear implants and bone-anchored hearing aids.

To maximize health and independence for Canadians impacted by vision loss. 

Vision Loss rehabilitation Manitoba has occupational therapists that specialize in providing support to blind and partially sighted children and their families during the formative years of birth to school entry. 

The VLR Manitoba Early Intervention Program helps blind or partially sighted children find a new path. A child’s first years of life are a time of exploration and learning. For sighted children, as much as 85 per cent of this learning is acquired through vision. Infants who are born blind or children who experience vision loss at an early age are not able to process information in the same way as others. The occupational therapists teach kids specific skills to maximize their learning style and build confidence by using a multi-sensory approach.  With early intervention, these children can find a new path and grow to reach their full potential. The Movement Centre of Manitoba, a registered charitable organization, uses Conductive Education to help children with neurological conditions gain or regain physical mobility, increased confidence and functional independence, one small step at a time.

The Movement Centre of Manitoba is committed to improving the physical health of children with physical disabilities. Through the teachings of “Conductive Education”, we strive to maximize the independence of our clients. We provide movement and learning opportunities with appropriate motivations and expectations, in order to overcome the challenges faced by the physically impaired population. The Movement Centre of Manitoba is one of only two centres in North America to provide Conductive Education beyond school age and into adulthood.

Conductive Education is effective for individuals with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, acquired brain injury, and Parkinson’ disease.
