Researchers at the University of Manitoba are looking for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and children without ASD between the ages of 8 and 12 years who are interested in taking part in a study! What do we want to learn? This study is interested in learning about how children with ASD use, understand, manage, and identify emotions and how well they think they do these things. This study will involve a variety of activities either using a pencil and paper or a computer. Participation will take approximately 1.5 hours. A small toy will be provided for participating! July 11-13, 2018 (Wed.-Fri., Camp Brereton) – 2018 Explore Summer Camp. To be eligible, campers must have an FASD diagnosis, be between the ages of 10—12 years old (Junior Camp) or 13—15 years old (Senior Camp), be able to manage a supervision ratio of 1 adult : 3 kids, be ready to be away from home and interested in attending an overnight camp, and not be currently involved with the youth justice system. The overnight camp this year will be at Camp Brereton and activities will include canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, games, campfires and crafts. The camp will be facilitated by the staff from Momenta experience discover grow. Please fill out the application package or call Laura Bennett at (204) 258-6741 for more information.

Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Grassroots/Developmental Sledge Hockey program is excited to offer a Sledge Hockey Development Camp on August 20-24 2018, at the St. James Civic Centre, located at 2055 Ness Ave. The venue will provide a gym space in the morning, a swimming pool for the afternoon and ice from 9:15 am until 4:15 pm. An added benefit is players can access half days at a reduced cost.  The half day sessions are for the afternoon sessions only which include swimming. Drop off will be from 8:30 am until 9:00 am and pickup will be at 4:15-4:30 pm. SMD Sledge Hockey camp is dependent on registered campers.  This camp will operate with a minimum of 15 athletes.  Cost of camp is $220.00 for a full week, and $110.00 for a week of half days which is very comparable to other camps being offered.  Cost will include all ice, gym space, swimming passes […]

Although it is primarily a cosmetic condition, it can be associated with other diagnoses, including torticollis. Early diagnosis and intervention is ideal.
