Registration for LIFE Sun and Fun Camp 2023 is officially open! The LIFE Program is offering 7 weeks of camp this summer with eight different themes for youth with disabilities ages 12-20, and 1 week of camp specifically for ages 7-11 (see camp package for eligibility details). The camp package contains everything you need to know about our camp, including dates, locations, themes, costs, eligibility, and how to register. Please review the package thoroughly as part of the registration process. Please discuss your intent to apply with your CdS, CLdS, or CFS worker to ensure funding is in place for the 1:1 camp buddy. DigitalSmarts Workshop: Explore Digital Parenting This workshop is designed to address parents’ concerns about their children’s internet usage. Topics addressed in the workshop include: The RCC/SSCY Family Network and the FASD Family Network are excited to host this workshop in partnership with MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy. They have designed this presentation to support families who have children and youth with additional needs. Opportunity for questions will follow the presentation. Join us for Spa Day at Home Join us on Sunday March 13, 2022 at 1pm for our virtual Spa Day at Home! Our Spa day at home is for youth ages 10 to 20 years old. Grab your favourite relaxing drink and jump on Zoom with us to hang out and make spa products! We’ll be trying out:

Join us for In-person OR virtual Yoga A 4-week program starts on March 6th and goes until March 26th 2022.Class A: 10:30 – 11:15am: In-person or virtual optionClass B: 11:45 – 12:30pm: In-person ONLY These yoga classes are for youth, ages 8-20 with additional needs, and a caregiver for support. Breathing exercises and chanting are practiced to help calm the body and mind and foster participants’ modes of communication with sound and repetition. Hands-on assistance from caregiver is offered and encouraged in partner poses which are included in every class. Children and youth will: In-person participants run at the SSCY Centre – 1155 Notre Dame. The RCC/SSCY Family Network is hosting one more Sibshops event! These Sibshops are for siblings ages 8-12 of children with physical and/or developmental disabilities. At these events, they will meet other sibs, have fun, laugh, talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs, play some great games, learn something about the services their brothers and sisters receive, and have some more fun. Special Olympics is now offering their FUNdamentals program at a Winnipeg location! FUNdamentals is a physical literacy program for ages 7-12  that transitions from basic movement skills to basic sport skills while maintaining an atmosphere of fun and meaningful interaction. This program also promotes specific sport education, proper nutrition, and social inclusion through participation in positive sport experiences.
