Boxing Day Relaxed Performance of A Charlie Brown Double Bill

Dec 18, 17

Manitoba Theatre for Young People will be hosting a relaxed performance of our Holiday Show, A Charlie Brown Double Bill, on December 26 at noon.

Relaxed performances or sensory friendly performances are designed to make shows more welcoming to audience members who may experience challenges in a regular theatre setting. This includes people with autism spectrum disorder, learning disorders, sensory concerns, and first-time theatre goers. But of course, all are welcome!

You can get your tickets by calling the box office at 204-942-8898 or by going online to www.mtyp.ca. Tickets cost $23 for children age 17 and under and $27 for adults.

About The Show

A Charlie Brown Double Bill consists of two classic Charlie Brown stories, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas. The show runs for about 90 minutes and is recommended for children age 3 and up.

With charm, wit and heart, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown explores life through the eyes of the entire Peanuts gang. Everyone’s favourite accident-prone boy tries to muster up the courage to talk to the Little Red-Haired Girl.

In A Charlie Brown Christmas, our loveable loser has had a rough year and just cannot get into Christmas. When Lucy suggests that he direct the school’s Christmas pageant, he is determined to turn things around. In the end, Charlie Brown needs the help of his friends to discover the real meaning of Christmas.

Relaxed Performance Modifications

The performance will have simple modifications to accommodate a variety of audiences.

  • Before the performance starts and throughout, the house lights will be lit at a low level to allow patrons to enter and exit the theatre comfortably.
  • Sound levels will be altered to account for sensory sensitivities.
  • There will be rooms upstairs (studio 1) and downstairs (studio 3) available to take a break if need be during the show.

MTYP has a Quiet Room that will be available. The Quiet Room is a sound-proof room at the back of the theatre where you can see and hear the show from.

Meet Your Seat

Prior to the performance of A Charlie Brown Double Bill, we are inviting families and children to come and see the theatre and where they will be sitting on either Sunday, December 17 or Friday, December 22 from 1-2 PM. This enables families to prepare their children for the venue, the actual theatre, and the seating. If you are interested in meeting your seat, email Susan at hmanager@mtyp.ca
