Part 1 told you about the design of our new website. Now Part 2 is about the content!
Next up was writing and organizing the content… and there is a lot of information to share! Since so many different people would be using our website, we decided that having specific sections for different users would be the best way to organize our content. Clicking on a leaf in our tree navigation menu will bring you to content made for that user group. You can learn about the SSCY partnership, SSCY Centre, programs and services, loan programs, research, and much more! The Service Providers and Staff section even has a login page for SSCY Centre staff.
There is a lot of information on our website, so be sure to have a look around, but there are a few pages we want to make sure you see! On the Programs and Services pages you can learn about all the programs offered by the different partners at SSCY Centre. There is information about what each program is for, how to access the program, and what to expect during a visit. On the What’s Happening? and What’s New? pages you can read about upcoming events and important news items. There is also a Games Zone with SSCY games just for you! When we asked families what they wanted on the website, they said that they wanted to see pictures of their kids. So we made the Share a Story section – you can submit a photo and a story and have it featured on our website! We want to see you having fun and being yourself!
We have a lot of great ideas for the website, but we just couldn’t fit them all in! In the future we want to add: an interactive map of the building, videos of our families and staff, a Health Portal (where you can login to see your own medical information), more information about different diagnoses, and much more!
We’re really happy with what we’ve created, and we hope you are too! We would love to hear what you think about our new SSCY website. Please have a look around and let us know what you like, what you don’t like, things we’re missing, things to add in the future, or anything else! We want to make sure that the SSCY website works for you, and has the information you want. You can email us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cheers, and welcome!

Our SSCY Website Redevelopment Committee has worked very hard to design this website and fill it with useful content for you! We’ll use the SSCY Blog to share insider information about SSCY and to let you know what we’re up to. We thought it would be perfect to have our first SSCY Blog post tell you a little about our development process for the new SSCY website and what we have planned for the future!
Who is on the SSCY Website Redevelopment Committee?
The SSCY Website Redevelopment Committee has two co-chairs (Jessie and Kira – the writers of this Blog post!), a member from every SSCY partner, and SSCY client and family advisors. We also asked for ideas and feedback from people who would be using the website, to make sure we didn’t miss anything.
The design of the new SSCY website was something that we were both passionate about, so we volunteered to co-chair the committee as soon as we could! We think it’s really important to have a website that is made for the people using it, and where you can find information quickly and easily. Plus, we wanted to have a brand new website to go with our brand new building!
We wanted the SSCY website to be kid-friendly, related to SSCY Centre and our children and youth, easy to use, and full of helpful information! Our first step was to find out what kinds of websites other health centres like ours have, to see what we could make. We looked at a lot of different websites, and we soon realized that we liked “kid” websites better than “health care” websites! Kid websites (like the ones for children’s museums and kid’s TV shows) are fun, colourful, easy to use, and make people want to come back. So… we decided to make a health centre website that looks like a kid website! Our clients are children and youth, so our website should put them first.
It took some time to find the perfect designer and web developer, and Relish New Brand Experience has made our vision come to life! Our park theme was inspired by the tree in the SSCY Network logo, and our animals show off the diversity of our children and youth. Our bright website colours match the colours in SSCY Centre. It was important to have our contact information easy to find at the top of every page, and the quick links on the home page make it easy to find out everything you need to know about coming to SSCY Centre. And our near-sighted bee is a friend who follows children and youth throughout the website.
Up next in Part 2 – The Content!
