This two-day workshop series is presented by the Relate Program at Rehabilitation Centre for Children, and is based on Relationship Development Intervention. The focus is on helping children to become more flexible in their ability to think, to learn from a partner and to communicate.

Day One probes the underlying issues. We introduce the concept of dynamic intelligence, the ability to think flexibly and solve problems in real life situations. We will also explore the concept of guided participation, a natural, time proven method of socially engaging and promoting development in children.

Day Two introduces participants to the essentials of becoming an effective guide.  Topics covered include setting up active partnerships, programming in the zone of proximal development, becoming aware of our guiding actions, modifying the guide’s communication style and creating episodic memories.  Opportunities for group discussion, individualized problem solving and practice will be provided.

To register, please fill out a registration form or contact Yvonne Kash at (204) 258-6500 or yvonnek@rccinc.ca.
